European managers are increasingly in favour of using high-definition video conferencing for meetings as business travel is proving a drain on resources, it has been revealed.
According to hosting company Easynet Global Services, 80 per cent of companies on the continent believe business trips are not an efficient use of time and budgets.
Studies by the group also found 60 per cent of respondents see video conferencing as a means of driving significant cost savings, while one in four enterprises estimate potential savings to be over 30 per cent of their travel budget.
Denis Planat, chief operating officer of the firm, said: “A lot of companies are unaware that telepresence providers are offering much more than only the technical installation.”
He added that managed meetings can result in significant travel budget reductions and a rapid return on video conferencing equipment investment.
This week, David Cumberbatch, a business psychologist speaking on behalf of Vodafone, claimed use of advanced technology, such as unified communications, can create a sense of community in the workplace.
